These 6 x 6" D.O.T. "Empty" labels are federally regulated labels required to mark packaging, containers, and transport vehicles that previously held hazardous materials and have since been emptied. The 6 x 6" format meets D.O.T. size specifications for regulated empty hazmat labeling, reducing misidentification risk during transit and at receiving docks.

Proper application of Empty labels is mandated under D.O.T. regulations across industries that handle hazardous chemicals, flammable liquids, compressed gases, and similar materials — including chemical manufacturers, industrial distributors, freight carriers, and third-party logistics operations. They are applied at the point of emptying before containers re-enter the shipping stream.
